Post Graduate - M. Sc. – 23 Disciplines, Ph. D. – 13 Disciplines.
The Master’s degree programmes are offered in 23 specialized areas in the Faculty of Agriculture. These are offered in three campuses of the University, i.e., courses in Agricultural Sciences at GKVK campus; Mandya campus and Hassan campus. The residential requirement is 2 years for Master’s degree programme.
Research/Ph.D
The Doctoral degree is offered in 13 specialized areas in the Faculty of Agriculture. These are offered in the Main Campus of the University, i.e., at GKVK. The residential requirement is 3 years for Ph.D. programme.
Training
Under ‘Swavalambana’ a scheme sponsored by the State Government of Karnataka, 12 weeks training programmes for Rural Youth is offered in the fields of Dairy production, Poultry, Bakery, Mushroom production and Nursery rising and Management.
The Staff Training Unit under the Directorate of Extension periodically conducts Training Course for the benefit of IAS Probationers, Officials of the State Government, Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry. The UAS also continuously train its own staff engaged in Research and Extension on latest techniques and accomplishments in the field of Agriculture and allied subjects.
- The other wings of the Directorate of Extension, viz., Farmers Training Institute, Extension units and Krishi Vignana Kendras are also engaged in imparting training programmes.
- The various departments of College of Agriculture, Bangalore are engaged in conducting Summer Institutes / Refresher Courses for the benefit of staff of State Agricultural Universities
Non-Degree Courses
The Bakery Training Unit under the Directorate of Extension conduct the following training courses.
- 14 weeks Certificate Course in Bakery Technology.
- 2 and 4 weeks Bakery product preparation course for commercial development and self-employment.
- 2 and 4 weeks Bakery product preparation course for commercial development and self-employment.
- One week course for selected professional.
- 3 days Home bakery course for women.
The Directorate of Extension also conducts sponsored programmes for State Development Departments, Corporate Sectors, Non-Governmental Organizations, Farmers, Rural youths and Women through its Extension Education network, Farmers Training Institute, etc. Distance Education courses in Integrated Farming System is conducted for rural youth while Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI) is conducted in collaboration with MANAGE, Hyderabad.
